- 64-bit for modern macOS
- PEO layout for creating Yearbooks
- Flexible pricing options: lifetime or subscription
Below is a list of the new features we have added to ClickBook 5.0.
- Rewritten as a modern app using the Swift programming language and all the latest frameworks.
- You can now create projects that combine several document sources together for your book, and save everything as a re-loadable file. Project files contain all of your source files in a single place and can be shared with your friends and colleagues. You can open and use saved projects even after the source documents are gone.
- Large layout preview display, allowing you to see fronts, backs, or even both sides of all of the pages in your book at once.
- You can use the same source document multiple times in your project without increasing the project's storage size.
- Specify multiple page ranges for your source documents. Pages can be in order, reversed, or repeated in your printout.
- Enhanced support for password-protected PDF files. Simply supply the document password and it is stored securely in your keychain.
ClickBook for macOS 5.0.2
Changes:
- On-screen previews now use the same drawing process as what is used when printing. Previously there was separate positioning/sizing code for each output destination.
Bugfixes:
- Fixes layouts using the No Scaling option so they print correctly
- Adds an Edit Layout button for quickly tweaking custom layouts from the main screen. Previously you would have to go to the Layouts screen, find your custom layout, edit it there, and then return to the main screen to see your changes reflected in the preview window.
ClickBook for macOS 5.0.1
Changes:
- Now available for purchase through the Apple App Store.
ClickBook for macOS Version 5.0.0.21
Enhancements:
- Added Help documentation to the Help menu
- Selecting US or International in the Layouts panel popup menu now hides the opposite layouts in the layouts menu (main panel)
- Selecting a single-sided printer hides all double-sided layouts in the layouts menu (main panel)
- A warning is shown on the main panel for a layout/paper mismatch
- Bumped the maximum Copies setting from 10 to 1000
- Added PDF of user manual to disk image
Fixes:
- Fixed a problem where a PDF file opened in ClickBook could be overwritten when the project was saved
- Disable the Front/Back/Both controls on single-sided layouts
- Fixed a crash that occurred when performing Print or Preview when no printers were defined in macOS
- Fixed an issue preventing adding a Preset (Setup panel)
- Renaming an item in the tasks list now works
- Fixed a labelling issue in the Page Designer panel
- The "Report all printing errors (troubleshooting)" checkbox is now hidden (currently unused; may enable in the future)
- Changed the label from "Set for Print Job" to "Set for Project" in the Layouts panel
ClickBook for Mac 5.0.0.19
Changes:
- Bumped build number to 5.0.0.19, bumped copyright string to 2024
- When using a custom layout, ClickBook now stores the layout definition in the document. This allows you to share documents using non-built-in layouts with your friends, without them needing to create a new layout to match yours.
Bugfixes:
- Fix a bug where the actual paper type being used was not stored with the document
- Fixed a problem preventing the Legal layout from working in Landscape mode
- Adjusted "DVD Jewel Box Portrait" to work with international paper sizes
- Fixed a bug that caused ClickBook to crash when closing a window
ClickBook for Mac beta 5.0.0.11
- Bumped build number to 5.0.0.11
- Lowered "minimum system requirement" down to MacOSX 10.11 (from 10.14) there are currently some cosmetic issues with the UI, but the program runs and doesn't crash
- Fixed several issues related to saving and opening documents. Unfortunately any documents saved in previous beta versions will not load. Then again, they likely didn't load before, either.
- ClickBook opens to the Welcome panel when it detects an upgrade or a new install (first run). Otherwise, the main panel will show at launch.
- Automatic fix of PDF Workflow helper file on program startup. Shows alert on success or failure when the disconnect is noticed
- Removed the Info button in Layouts manager; now always shows the information panel (fixes a layout issue on MacOSX 10.11)
Bugs addressed:
- Added icon for document files
- Rename 'US Letter' in code to 'Letter' to match Mac OS printing system paper size value
- Preview view was drawing too low when a scroller was present
- Prevent a case where two successive print dialogs appear when using the ClickBook / Custom paper setup dialog
- Fixed the internal check for send-to-self (PrintHandler)
- Now display an error alert in print settings setup when validation fails. Also fix the code checking this condition.
- Now use the default paper if none found for the page setup selection match
- Fix crash at quit caused by a reference to the (now deallocated) document object
More known issues:
- Positioning a watermark on the preview does not accurately show where it will appear when printing. There are some math issues there that need to be addressed, so that scaling (the screen is 72dpi, printing is at 300 dpi) doesn't cause any shifting of items on the page.
ClickBook for Mac beta 5.0.0.9
Bug Fixes:
- Sizing the watermark now works
- Layout descriptions now show in the Layouts Manager when a layout is selected from the list
- For layouts with margins (for example, "4 to a sheet, Portrait") the layout preview now draws pages correctly. Previously each mini-page was drawing too high on the view.
- Fixed start-up race conditions that sometimes caused the lists holding printers/watermarks to appear empty. Previously the user would have to switch out (to Finder, for example) and switch back to populate the list
- Changed the built-in Draft and Confidential watermarks to use transparent-backed png images instead of pdf files. (In general there are still issues trying to use pdf as a watermark, including bad alpha blending of the page background.)
- Tried to eliminate as much window auto-resizing as possible. (There are a few more of these remaining to fix.)
User Interface Changes:
- The main window has been reorganized, placing the Layout Preview into the resizable area of the window, and the controls (Watermark, Layout, Printing) along the right edge. This allows you to resize the window and see greater detail for your eventual printout.
- The previous files list is still there, but is tab-swappable with the Layout Preview view.
- You can now drag/drop a pdf or image document onto the Layout Preview to add it to your files list.
- The toolbar has been expanded, and the icons have been updated to the more modern Mac OS styling.
- Additional watermark positioning controls: horizontal/vertical, and rotation angle
- There is a new Layout filter in the Layouts Manager: you can select all layouts, or pick those corresponding to your paper size (US Letter or International A4). Currently only two layouts are designated as working with both types of paper; we will review the remaining layouts and add those that work internationally in the next release.
Known issues:
- The ClickBook logo in the toolbar does not look good and will be replaced
- Toolbar icons are currently using "trial version" images (72 pixels) as placeholders. High-quality versions will be added.
- PDF watermarks have problems with alpha blending (like a white film over the page image) and positioning. For best results, use transparent png files for watermarks.
